    Avengers at Playdium

Yeah, I noticed that on Avengers too-is this part of the new Stern design? Making games harder by blocking your view of the ball? :)

    Off to see the wizard...

"I need a horn here, here, and here. You can never find a horn when you're angry!" :) I thought the same thing about the upper flipper at first. Looks like it's designed to try to hit that skill shot through the bumpers, and to hit the uppper feed into the crystal ball. Probably not...

    Playdium blues

+1 to this-there is really an unbelievable group of hosts in TOPL that make their collections available to everyone, and it's truly incredible what you have access to as a member of the league. Someone has just about all the high profile B/W and Stern releases, and there are even multiples of...

    Avengers at Playdium

New code still doesn't fix the shitty inlane visibility on ACDC though. That cannon just gets in the way.

    ST:TNG Color DMD

Prices on DMDs are going up because nobody is manufacturing them, but these LCD type screens are only going to get cheaper. Of course, give it a few years, and you'll have flexible AMOLED replacements for your pins (maybe then they'll be able to do CV). :)

A couple new additions- FINALLY HOME!

Re: A couple new additions Grab some sleep while you can-it will likely come at a premium in the next little while. Congrats!

Price Check on LOTR **No matter - BOUGHT***

Re: Price Check on LOTR Most routed LOTR have some flipper button wear. One option is to replace the siderails with the ones that have the button protectors and just cover it up if you don't feel like actually trying to repair the cabinet. 4500 sounds high for a game you have to get across...

    ST:TNG Color DMD

Yeah, I saw that as well-I suppose you could store new high res graphics on the system in the middle, so instead of colorizing the dots as they come in, you could play back clip X, Y, or Z. The catch would be triggering everything, which would take information that the DMD doesn't have (unless...

    ST:TNG Color DMD

Looks like a nice upgrade-looking forward to seeing what it looks like in person. I was really impressed with the MM one. Given that they have to redo the dots anyway, I wonder if they can change the video mode? :)

First TOPL night for me tonight

Yes, it's $5 for the host every week to help cover food and upkeep on the machines. Since it's your first night, there's no league fee, but it's usually either $2/night or $30/season (15 weeks) to cover the playoff prizes, food, trophies, and other operating costs. Basically, worth it to pay...

    Pinball league's near Cambridge ont.

Depending on how far you're willing to drive, some of the usual TOPL locations are pretty far west too (Ancaster, Carlisle, Georgetown, and Mississauga), so if you want to get on the mailing list (topl.org) or facebook group you can at least keep up on what's happening and make it out when you can.

Dr. Who - Flippers trigger slings

I'm assuming that the coils themselves test OK? Something else that I never got around to trying when I was having issues with my STTNG was to replace the problem coils with a couple of in-sequence flashlamps. That'll place a load on the circuit, but it shouldn't be enough current to blow a...

    Off to see the wizard...

I can maybe understand putting the game in showrooms or at pinball shows in that state, but putting it on location that unfinished is just wrong... The whole thing could backfire-yeah, people will think "ooh, shiny", try the game out, and not be able to "do" anything in it. This either gives...

TOTAN - "You Break, You Buy..."

Nice job-I like when a problem is a reasonably simple fix like this (and by "simple" I mean "anything you can solve in one evening and not have to go to sleep still worrying about").

Dr. Who - Flippers trigger slings

When you tried the other boards, did you connect up 104, and do they lock on with both boards? That's a strange one for sure, especially since before they'd trigger with the switches (without J104 connected). What about if you leave 104 connected, disconnect the coil, and test the switch-does...

    70s Japanese Pinballs

That's a really interesting take on things-that system for raising the glass is a neat idea.

    Pinball Lifters

Yeah, I have some spare boards that I could slide in for that if I wanted, and I actually toyed with the idea of making the box on top of the lift rotate 90 degrees once it was between the legs to get it to lift at the sides. Way too complicated though-I'll just slide something across if I ever...

    Pinball Lifters

I ended up grabbing one of the CT jacks and modifying it like this: The wheels that came on it were definitely no good for carpet, so I tried putting the entire jack on a new base with some swivel casters that I had lying around. Then I made the height extension and bolted it directly to the...

new Stern STAR TREK confirmed! (sort of)

So does this mean that Star Trek is going to be the next game, or will Metallica be out first? The next release should be the Ritchie game, right (assuming that it's going in order). Wonder if this will FINALLY be the game that ups the ante and puts in an LCD.

    HULK SMASH!!

All Stern all the time, huh? So, which HUO game are you going to sell to buy the next NIB? :) Have fun with the game-still not sure on this one, but I'm looking forward to playing more of it.
