Ah, that would do it then-the red made it look like the LED DMD in X-Men, but the lack of gridlines should have been a dead giveaway. I just thought it was a different manufacturer that had a better process :) I think it was the frosted whites all through, and they're OK in the stuff that...
Yeah, I knew I'd get it eventually :) Did you replace the DMD in it with the LED one, or was the game a reimport? I noticed that it came up configured for Taiwan originally, but that could have just been someone setting the DIP switches by mistake. Didn't have to do much to tweak it...
Making the whole flipper mech disconnectable like that is a great idea. I thought that using breakout-style connectors on flippers was a bad idea though-wouldn't they be much more liable to coming disconnected through vibration? Otherwise wouldn't you be much more likely to see either spade...
Thought I'd throw this out there in case anyone is looking for work, looking to make a move, or knows someone who is. I'm looking to hire a couple more developers for my team at ComputerTalk (link to posting http://computer-talk.com/software-engineer/) to work on our core platform. Looking for...
Got my SM set up and playing really nicely. Tilt is tight, and PF is pretty steep, so it plays pretty fast, but for some reason shots seem easier to hit than on other SMs I've played. Might just be coincidence though.
Also finally fixed the topper on my whitewater. For months now it's been...
Re: FS - TZ Twilight Zone - $6200 (pics up)
I don't think Dan has anything to worry about when it comes to his reputation-his games are probably the most well maintained that I've ever seen, and when he sells a game he does a great job fixing it up. I bought my first pin off him years ago...
If they got to the point where they could get 90000 by putting in another 10k themselves, then that's probably what happened. Yeah, they're on the hook, but they're paying themselves, so they're just out transaction/kickstarter fees.
It'll be interesting to see how this one develops.
The thing is, they've made what-two machines digitally with Farsight? I have to think that licensing is their biggest issue here, but there's probably very little for Stern to lose by having a digital version of their games available day 1. How many people are going to take a $10 digital...
You'd think they'd at least take the glass off and take the loose hulk arm out of there and stick it in the cabinet or something...
There's a reason we haven't had a TOPL night at Playdium in years.
Re: FS - TZ Twilight Zone - $6200 (pics up)
Look at it this way-you can always make more money, and you can usually find more space, but how likely are you to find another Twilight Zone?
Problem is that there were lots of them made, but how many are beat beyond repair? How many got cannibalized for parts? I have a feeling that since the game did so well on route, it got played to death.
Did you check voltages at the flipper coils? If all the physical bits are moving normally, then wouldn't it make sense that the voltage at the coil was getting pulled down by something else, causing it to not pull as hard (or not at all)? Now, I'm not sure what would cause that (or why it'd be...
Yes, the TZ home roms have a pause built in. Cradle the ball and push the buy in button, and it'll hold for up to 15 minutes. Neat idea, but if it's going to damage things, not something I'd use for long periods of time.
You could just keep a piece of painter's tape handy and use that to...
Heh... A pin... It certainly starts that way, doesn't it?
I still have a small collection of consoles, but really it's just the stuff I play (or played) and never got rid of. TOPL is definitely a great option-depending on where in the GTA you are, we play anywhere from as far west as...
I've always bought that kind of stuff from pinball life-if you put the word out that you're doing an order, I'm sure there are others who would want to get in on splitting shipping.
Check out http://replayfx.org/ for more info. Looks like the PAPA folks are going to grow the tournament into a full on show, and incorporate the match play tournament into it. July 30-August 2 2015. PInburgh field grows to 700 players, and a $100000 prize pool!
