Thanks, Brock, for helping me dismantle it in the SB warehouse. Then it was the fun times of getting it into my basement, but it's all good now!
Installed a blue dmd I had special ordered in preparation. Looks real natural on it.
I would never get that new backglass with a fat ugly girl on it. The hippy chick before was far better looking. Last thing I'd want staring out at me all day.
I think on the pinside thread about building MMs months ago it was cost projected around $7k + labour, which would be an incredible amount of time. Even if you ended up with a $15k game i dont think the labour costs would make sense. And obivously it aint a $15k game anymore.
Re: [Group Buy]: DMD Glare Guard "Knock Off"
yeah, those photos look about the same as the originals. None for me since my machines all have them, but they are great. I'll be able to finally play Adam's Godzilla!
Re: [Group Buy]: DMD Glare Guard "Knock Off"
The Wrong Crowd ones have a textured bottom that diffuses the light coming from the pin so the guard itself doesn't turn into a mirror of playfield light. Does anyone know if these have the same kind of texturing?
if they were exactly like rubber, but lasted longer, I'd like them more. But they fundamentally change the game. I guess it can be debated if you like the change or not. I won't be swapping my rubbers out, not that they need to anyways.
Before Brock started this, I definitely felt a Toronto based forum was needed and even took steps to start my own, but then pbrev showed up so I killed my plans. I know it isn't Toronto limited, but it is nice to have a spot where locals can chat.
Comparing the 2 photos, from today and the original one, I can see that the varistor was not in the same placement as from factory. When it blew the second time it was beside more wiring and took them out with it. so, when replacing varistors, always put them in the same place!!! :FP:
It happened AGAIN!!!!
I was playing my TSPP, Tron wasn't even on, but the lights dimmed, and I heard a "zzzzzzzzzzzzzap" and I could smell smoke. My other games weren't affected.
I think this house just has old shitty wiring. I'm going to have to unplug all my games I guess unless they are in...
I like the red look too. and I get Jack's reasoning, that if 1000 people are wiling to pay $8k for an older game, reasonable to think for $1k more you get a hell of a lot more tech. I think ultimately though the well is running dry.
interesting thread on pinside where not a single person as I write this has chimed in that they are buying the red edition. A distributor reported not selling any yet either. This might be the "hit the wall" moment for the biz.
If JJP is counting on these LEs to juice the biz a bit and carry...
Thanks. I guess a lot of people think anyone can make a pinball, but its far tougher than most can imagine to get the secret sauce right.
I still think jpop will come through.
I guess we'll see if Heighway will deliver a quality product, so they'll be in the mix as well. They are aiming at...
