So as some of you know I went and picked up my first pin on the first weekend in May. After having countless guests over and putting about 25-30 hours of game play on it in the last 3 weeks, I've had no issues.

I did notice that the inlanes in particular, as well as the outer loop were starting to get pretty dirty. Figured it was about time to pull a couple of pieces off and clean it up a bit, as well as change all the rubber.

I got started yesterday evening, and one thing led to another. Next thing you know I had most of the things taken off the playfield, and had a minor stress out when I realized there was a good chance I wouldn't be able to figure out where all the pieces went, and put it all back together. (Of course I went against EVERYTHING I've read, and didn't take any pictures while I was taking it apart.... :FP: )

After a discussion with the mrs to calm me down, and a look at all the dirt, I came to the conclusion that it was far overdue. I also decided if I couldn't get it back together I have no business in this hobby.

Well it isn't completely back together yet, but it's about 100 times cleaner. I'm hoping to get the ramps and big stuff cleaned up and put back together tomorrow.

The hard to get to sections at the top of the playfield were absolutely filthy. Some of the rubber rings had actually worn away nearly to dust which was all over everything. Most of the rubber has been changed now, and the rest will be changed tomorrow.

Enjoy the pictures! And before anyone points it out, the colour of the room is "Aggressive Salmon"...

Excellent! Best way to learn this stuff is by jumping in with both feet. Next time I suggest taking pics for sure, but the good news is there are lots of pics on-line of this game in various states that can help when needed.

Congrats on taking the plunge and you might want to throw some LEDs in the pop bumpers while you have easy access to them now.

Yup, take pictures for sure and put parts from each step in separate baggies. helps a lot. WCS94 is a pretty easy shop so you should be ok. I miss my WCS94 - good thing I sold it to a friend.

As for the "Aggressive Salmon" - sorry but I grew up in a house with that color and that is at best "Dusty Rose". :)

Well I was busy yesterday and I didn't end up getting it completely back together. Made some progress with the little time I had. Got the ramps cleaned up. They are still far from perfect, but they look much better.

Good for you!

I know a few people who've been in this hobby a long time and have done a lot less to their pins.
Way to commit :)

Bad move forgetting to snap pics, but I know how it is to start small and eventually have the whole thing stripped.
Best way to learn!

Bet it feels good to see things clean up to so well. Removing this kind of build up will last a long time in a home environment. Thin ball trails will come back that will need occasional cleaning but you won't see this kind of dirt accumulation for a long time. You are doing the right thing by tearing this game down :)
