new Stern STAR TREK confirmed! (sort of)

well, that's the thing, lcd hasn't even been proven to help pinball. jpop says he thinks he figured out the best way to use lcd, but he patented it, so whenever his games come out, if he did crack the code, no one else can copy it. So I don't think Stern is going to be messing with their...

new Stern STAR TREK confirmed! (sort of)

Those waiting for LCD will be disappointed. I don't think Stern has any intention of dropping dmd. And with JJP releasing 1 game every 2 years, there will be no pressure to do so.

    Off to see the wizard...

There was some info on the latest update from Pinside: To me, that is not nearly a big enough update after all this waiting, and pressure to show stuff off. Sounds like the game is still incomplete by a long ways. The scope of this project is huge, I get that, and they are in over their...

    Off to see the wizard...

We'd probably not be told an honest answer, but I'd be curious if these demos are responsible for any new sales (or very many). I think AT BEST they're illiciting a "wait and see", and at worst getting people off the WOZ train. Seems to have been a huge miscalculation to put these demos out as...

Make the big red button a "view new posts" link

beside each thread title is a big red light telling you if there are new posts or not, but it doesn't do anything. you have to click on the TINY little block beside it. I suggest hyperlinking the red button to make it easier (especially on portable screens).

    Off to see the wizard...

No one has mentioned the monitor dropping out on any other review on Pinside so it must just be a defect with the demo at Starburst. To be expected I guess when they're making one at a time, shit happens. There has to be a reason why though the code has not been updated. It makes no sense for...

    Off to see the wizard...

I get nervous when Keith wrote that he's still trying to control the LEDs through software. This thing could be a long ways off still.

    AFM & CDN/USD Pricing

It's funny how this is literally the only hobby in the world where no one expects to lose money.

    AFM & CDN/USD Pricing

Well, one could easily over pay for a machine bought in Canada as well. Just do your home work.

    AFM & CDN/USD Pricing

Besides the effort/cost to go get it, add 13% HST at the border. It might be worth it. I think the biggest problem with buying games up here is availability, there just aren't that many around.

    The Predator Thread....

I'm #106. Like what I'm seeing, at the same time this seems like a LOOOOONG ways to completion. I'm not sure how they even dreamed that Drano would have his by xmas. It's all good by me, but I am towards the end of their production numbers (#186 I think), I wonder if I'll see mine in 2013.

    Jersey Jack Pinball Factory

Stern doesn't sell 5k of a machine, but over an entire year they produce around that much. JJP has to ride WOZ for the next year & 1/2 because they have nothing else. Otherwise the factory goes dark. And I can't imagine investing millions just to sit idle. Anyhow, I just have lots of questions...

    Jersey Jack Pinball Factory

I think having Jack around is good for us in pinball. I just can't make sense of his business. I'm hoping he's "crazy like a fox" and not just crazy. Hobbit kind of sucked the wind a bit out of WOZ... that still hasn't been officially released yet, all the focus should be on it, but we're all...

    Jersey Jack Pinball Factory

I'd love to see Jack's business plan to see what he sees. This outlay of cash and effort is incredible. How many pinballs does he think he can sell? and to whom? I just can't imagine WOZ or Hobbit being big earners on location, because kids don't give a flying fuck about pinball. He obviously...

    Pinball Cafe Closed

Fair comments. From everything I've read, I don't think this was an insurmountable challenge. I would bet money the next attempt by someone on a pinball attraction in Toronto would get their variance as long as they follow procedure.

    Pinball Cafe Closed

Ok, now I'm just talking in general about the business, since business stuff is interesting to me, not trying to kick a dead horse... So does normally a business get a license before they open? Is that how it works? Seems like one could easily just leave out the part about having multiple pins...

    Pinball Cafe Closed

Well, dunno Brock, Gord Parks was pretty black and white. If he is lying, as a city councilor he just put his neck on the block. I think they or anyone else could reopen just about anywhere. The Silver City near me at Eglinton has an arcade in it. Cineplex obviously got a variance. I'm sure...

    Pinball Cafe Closed

Reading the various articles, I have concluded (my opinion from information available): -Pinball Cafe had no license to operate -Did not apply for a variance for their amusement business as suggested by Cnlr. Parks -Late in the game, applied for a liquor license and tried to be a straight-up...
