As you said still not cheap but getting better. I don't know what I'd actually pay for one of these but I'm guessing 5500 or so which would be possible if there was ever a sale.

I don't think these are ripoffs or anything but I really don't get who the target audience is. Casuals will think it's way too expensive and those of us in the community would rather spend a few bucks more for a real machine.

Homepins at this price are entry level NiB
They are certainly better that Demo Derby and Alive.
I wait to see the first ad of my Premium for your 2 homepins.
Or even a classic, 2 homepins for a ToM or CV.
Old homepins (Demo Derby) don't go for much, if they even sell.

I just don't see it happening.

FYI, Some Costco warehouses have added these in the past weeks, not just Newmarket. I was able to try one in Ottawa (Blair) tonight. Nope! they didn't remove the plunger on this one, but I had to hand tight the leg bolts LOL!

Price is $6999.99

As for gameplay, some shots are better than the previous homepins and there is a 3-ball multiball which, I must admit, is pretty cool to start. It feels super duper cheap though...and it is easy. I couldn't see having one at home as I would get bored to tears within one night. I didn't try the insider connect and didn't even finish a game as there some people wanting to try it and I did pretty much everything that could be done on it in roughly 5 minutes.

Still, if it goes on liquidation, I "could" entertain" it...with a STEEEEEEP discount though.

My $0.05

Game is not really made for most of the folks on Pin-Rev, it's a lower priced NIB with warranty option for new/casual buyers.

Home games always have compromises to keep cost down. I had a Transformers Home game so I experienced one first hand. That first Stern it left me wanting a pro/premium and now I have 4!performance-slide-ccc81fe0-1ce5-11ee-8b42-a19f130f0ac7.high (4).jpg

I don't think the game is that bad, it's the price. The price difference between a home and Pro is pretty close to the difference between Pro and Premium, but the value add on the Pro vs home is much greater. I guess what I'm saying, like others, make it cheaper (5k or less) and I'd consider one. No way in hell I'm paying 7k for this even if it was tax free

What always made me shake my head with Heavy Metal was the cheap small thread diameter on the playfield posts.
When I went to order replacements they sent regular posts.
I had to switch the worst middle of the PF cheap ones with real posts.
I can get over the joint slingshot and pops

I have ordered parts a few times over the years.
I have never gpt the correct parts the first time.
The software is the main issue.
It's not available for download.

I have been asked to copy mine for a persons Vpin, but I am unfamiliar with the program and don't want any trouble for distributing it.

What about it feels cheap? I assumed it would be the same parts that go into a normal pin, just less mechs and smaller since they already have an inventory of parts for every other game. If it feels cheap did they cheap out on the parts too? No clue how they justify $7k if that's the case.

the cabinet feels more like particle board-ish.
There's only one backbox speaker.
The screen is soooo small...
It barely has any targets to hit. there's almost nothing on the playfield.
It may not be bare like Star Explorer or Alive, but compared to the pro, it's the closest I can describe the lack of targets on the home version.

Having said that, it's not ALL negative...

Insider Connect and Spike 3 is neat, the lock ball feature turning into captive ball to start multiball is nice and innovative...wish other titles have a similar "shot"...only one I can think of that is similar is Rush Prem/LE (Freewill MB).

At the end of the day, IMHO $7K for the SW home version vs. a SW Pro is like buying mobility scooter that looks like a car vs. you can buy a new car for slightly more.

Already a glowing review on COSTCO.CA which should help future pin sales;

I purchased this yesterday and was a real challenge to get into the basement due to the weight. Finally got it all set up and found the front bar where hands rest is loose and not able to tighten it as it is only accessible from the inside. Started playing and the right paddle button is intermittently sticking which is very annoying. Not impressed when considering the cost of this unit. The layout is fairly simplistic, wish I would have listened to the online reviewers that didn’t recommend it.

This is a pretty good representation of the issue here. The kind of person who is going to buy this unit is the kind of person who is averse to even opening it up, let alone doing maintenance. They are likely a person with a decent amount of discretionary income and they want a toy to impress their family and friends. They don't want something that is going to take fiddling.

These games are aimed at less that 1% of people walking into Costco. This is not for the masses even though this is a store for the masses.

It's been done many times before at Costco - if it didn't work for Stern they wouldn't do it anymore.

so the one at my local costco is finally broken. rubber and shooter rod. I wonder what kind of sell off costco would do with a broken floor model?
