Best way to replicate clear plastic?

Just a few seconds and keep the torch moving or you'll bubble the plastic. Practice on some scrap first. Flaming will give it a nice clean glossy factory edge. I made these custom WH2O inlane plastics a while back... but I did have the blanks cut on our CNC first.

The Pinball Diaries (what did you do today?)

Yup! I've wanted to play with one of these for years. Brock mentioned it a couple of weeks ago and I'm thinking of jumping in on this deal too!

Best way to replicate clear plastic?

I prefer the CNC myself :D Dremel will work well. Sand the edges smooth and then flame polish them with a small torch. I like the cheap butane BBQ lighters for this.

Dr@No's fun filled (and often long-winded) restorations

Finally got into the spray booth at lunch. Twilight Zone is finished. I drilled this playfield for the 3rd magnet mod and touched up a few problem areas. Overall, a pretty easy restore. It had some planking that I was able to seal in quite well. The Pinbot is the CPR repro I pictured a while...

    R.I.P., HR Giger :(

I did not know that! I was always a big fan as well. I always had prints of his in my studio or room growing up. The man definitley went his own way and left his mark. Can't hope for much more than that! RIP

Dr@No's fun filled (and often long-winded) restorations

START YOUR ENGINES: restoring my first vid; 1986 ATARI Super Sprint Part 7 - conclusion Well, My shop is starting to slow down a little. Hoping to get into the spray booth today or tomorrow to finish up at least two of the playfields I've been working on. That'll be a relief to me as well as...

    High Speed Clear Ramp Replacement

Mine arrived in the mail this week! Just have to go pick it up from a friend's place. HS is not in the restoration queue for a while, but this, along with my new CPR playfield, should really make the game pop! The approach angle of the turn was altered a bit to elimate the need for the top...

    SOLD 1975 Gottlieb SPIN OUT

I'm starting to consider selling off a few of my EMs... at least the ones I've had a while. Spin Out is a great and punishing game with a really cool retro open-wheel racing theme. I originally got this game for it's roto-target; the main feature of the game. Only a handfull of EMs used this...

    Writing about pinball at creditdotpinball.com

Yup, that was a good read. I played Fire for the first time last weekend and have formed a strong appreciation for the game. Well done Rob!

    HVLP - Input needed

I use an IWATA LPH400. Probably overkill if you're not doing clearcoat. I also just invested in one of these. The CFM rating should do the trick and I will get plenty of use out of the compressor for many shop tasks, including running various air tools, sandblasting and other stuff. But, if...

    Wrath of Olympus

I think the real problem is that none of these people who have been creating these boutique projects (aside from JPOP) is actually a designer. Sure, maybe they have some programming ability or even some illustration or graphic design background, but real industrial design is not something you...

The Pinball Diaries (what did you do today?)

Well, now that Allentown is done and my projects are beckoning, I decided a little Spring cleaning was in order. Did a big re-organization of the garage/shop last night in preparation for some cabinet work.

    Wrath of Olympus

I played it a few times. I know one of the programmers (Frank) and he and I were having a few head to head games while he explained the expanded rule-set. The game was playing a lot better than it was at Expo in October. That being said, I think there is still a long way to go. I'm not...

    Allentown 2014

Yup, it was a quieter show than last year (from a social/evening point of view). Probably would've been good to exchange numbers with a few people beforehand ;) However, even texting was painful as many didn't have any data/phone plans in place. Pete, We did see a nice WCS at the show and...

    An International Pinball Experience

Man. This was starting out to be a really promising letter to Penthouse :( Good on you Luch. Always good to share the hobby and meet new people. Some of my best "pinball" friends are in places like Alaska, Europe and even Australia!

    Pinballcards.com / Custom Instruction Cards

Super cool! Thanks! I've made a few for games in the past and always love to see original designs vs. some cut & paste. My favorite examples are those that blend in with existing apron graphics. Of the games I own that could still use nice cards: Banzai Run Centaur Fish Tales T2 Tron (some...

Dr@No's fun filled (and often long-winded) restorations

Ughhh :( Projects are at a standstill this week. I needed to vacate some space before my shop foreman started ditching Nintendo cabinets into the wood chipper... so I spent most of last week and this week assembling and wrapping up the remainder of the cabinets and then getting them out the...
