Dr@No's fun filled (and often long-winded) restorations

Here's another insert and the final process of cleaning it up with sandpaper. I started with 400 grit and worked in smooth circular motions up to 800 grit wet. We want a smooth surface to apply the decals to.

JUST BECAUSE IT SAYS CPR... : repairing a CPR 'second' Pinbot playfield Okay... PINBOT As mentioned above, this CPR repro had some fuzzy screening that affected the white text on a few inserts. After looking at some orginals, it was interesting to see that, even on those, some of the numbers...

    Predator Pinball artwork

wow! blink and you'll miss that claw. There has been a slew of pretty honest reviews on the game from guys at TPF. The general consensus was: -gameplay was great and fairly challenging (but different). Lots of focus on the sides of the playfield while trying to avoid the middle (think BSD)...

Dr@No's fun filled (and often long-winded) restorations

Sure... let me dig up some pics. I'm sure I documented the process. This is a special case though. This PINBOT came from CPR without clearcoat; as you know. I assume this was because they were aware of the screening issues and knew that the buyer would likely want to address them. So, no...

Dr@No's fun filled (and often long-winded) restorations

Thought I'd post a few updates on several ongoing projects. I was getting a little restless the last few nights and decided to tear out the bottom panel (footplate) from my Super Sprint project. The condition of the wood and laminate covering were just too far gone to touch up, so just easier...

    Allentown 2014

Only been to two shows. Allentown and Expo. Allentown was more of a fair atmosphere. Tons of games to play (over 250 I think?), an outdoor flea market etc... Expo has seminars and all the hooplah and draw of being in Chicago and having all the great names in pinball literally walk past you in...

    Clearcoating (first time experience)

That'll do it :D Only time I tape up a hole is if I'm too lazy to fully strip the underside. I do this a lot with EM playfields. I don't like taking them apart. All those flat head screws :x It usually breaks off with the tape though... and a little filing cleans it up easily enough.

WPC 2.0(tm) - Extensions to WPC 2.0 from PPS seminar at TPF

Re: WPC 2.0(tm) - Extensions to WPC 2.0 from PPS seminar at I think TOTAN is a great choice. Probably JPOPs most popular and attractive game and also in desperate need of better code. Although, I can't argue with TOM suffering from the same. Will be interesting to see what FH dots look like.

    Clearcoating (first time experience)

That did turn out really nice! Congrats! Not sure why you have clear buildup in the holes though? Just elevate your playfield off your work surface next time. I just use some scrap strips of wood. I've never actually seen buildup like that. Usually there's enough movement of the Playfield...

    Clearcoating a playfield

There you go! I just sent you a PM saying the exact same thing :D Should be fine... just ask your guy to scuff it (even with a scotch brite pad) as close to the edges as he can. The signature ink itself will not be super smooth and will take the clear very well. Just get as close to it as...
