I'll usually decide on a case by case basis, and it'll usually depend on whether the pro removals make a huge change in gameplay.
Maiden: I own a pro, but have played a few premium/LEs. In this case, I bought the pro because I thought the art package was better than the Premium, and that you...
Not a good first impression, especially after the new Avengers. Still want to see how it plays, and the rules make it sound like it'll advance through the songs as part of the gameplay (which could be interesting), but not really any interest in owning one yet (even if I did have the cash/space).
Congrats on your first pin, but if you're going to be owning machines, then you'll have to learn at least a few basic fixes. Soldering a wire back on is something you'll definitely have to do again.
Probably more recent-they did the final run last year (or maybe that was earlier this year). The manufacture date should be on the back. It's not unheard of for games to be in boxes for 7y, but it's not common. That takes up a whole bunch of space.
That looks promising for sure. I like what they're saying about the rules too-the fact that the song modes can end, and you can get booed off the stage could be interesting, and the risk/reward sounds like the Crank it Up feature in Metallica.
Not going to get one this year (already in on an...
Very cool stuff! I saw a few of these in action at Nick's place the other day, and they look comparable to the ColorDMD LED panels, but cost a whole lot less. I like the open source nature of the colorizations too.
Agreed that the theme is probably the biggest deal. If something fits with the location, then go for that. Jurassic Park is a good choice, and I think Deadpool could do well too. Beatles might be too "retro" for what you're looking for. New Sterns are probably a good bet from a maintenance...
Neat, so does that include the one at Shopper's World in Brampton? That was down the street from my middle school, and I remember it was a little unique because there were two arcades in the mall (Fun & Games and Future World if I remember correctly). Seemed a little odd, but not going to...
I've been collecting for about 30 years now too, and have only recently slowed down significantly. I'll still buy a few trades a month, but I'm basically done with singles. Don't think I have anything that's worth much (mostly Marvel stuff from about 1990 with a few older keys), but I still...
This makes a ton of sense. Networked scoring/multiplayer is all well and good, but ops should be able to know when a machine is down remotely. Do modern arcade/redemption games have this kind of reporting available?
It looks like the shield is going to be kind of a standard blocker for that lane, but that flail mech looks interesting. From the video it looks like it can spin in both directions, which could make shooting that ramp really difficult. Looking forward to trying one!
Both are good choices, but I'd probably go MB over ST if it was one or the other. If it's your first (and only for a while) game, you'd probably get a bunch of mileage out of either. Getting something that everyone is going to like is probably also a good move if you ever want to be able to...
I don't think I've ever actually seen the show, so theme does nothing for me. Doing the premium in B&W seems bold though-I have the feeling that some of the LE buyers are going to be torn on this, and it's going to be a very polarizing choice. Looking forward to trying one at some point.
Bought this a couple of months ago to try to sort out bad wifi reception in my home office, but ended up just running ethernet instead. Strong wifi is good, but gigabit ethernet is better, although much more difficult to install. Here's the amazon listing for it. $100 new, looking to get $50...
I did the upside-down canned air method on a JM, and it worked out OK as long as you go slow. Not sure about older playfields that might not have the same level of clear on them though.
Which romset/core were you using, and did you use anything to clean the roms beforehand (e.g. Romcenter, CLRMamePro)?
I've only managed to get a couple of games working so far, and I ran into a strange issue whereby I'd quit MAME, and then the controls in the Emulation Station frontend would...
