    Newbie!

hi Jim, welcome to the asylum. If there's one thing I've learned since getting into pinball... "if there's a will there's a way" and before you know it you have a bunch of them.

60 Years of Gaming ~ Ontario Science Centre

Was there again today and finally got on BOP! It was in permanent tilt mode, people were walking up to it, but it was dead. Luckily my wife and I swooped in at first opportunity and rebooted it and it was back up and running so we played a 2 player game. I've only played BOP on ipad so it was...

    Spam attack, again?

This is unlikely. The whole net gets spammed all day long. My defunct DJ page gets hit on the bookings page all the time. Once the bot has dialed you in once, they keep coming.

Is there a Wizard of Oz table somewhere in the GTA

refers to it as a prototype, so its probably the one that was there before.

Smoke in the cabinet is bad, right?

Well, now that I know this can happen, it will be something I will look into. So a "surge protector" power bar does not do anything, I guess? I do have my games plugged into one of those. I also wonder if the games themselves can be modified to not always be on? Like, for Tron, someone modded...

Smoke in the cabinet is bad, right?

Ugh... my house had a "brown out", all the lights dimmed and buzzed. computers shut down. everything came back, but the electrical panel in my Tron was fried! Look at this! It was not on, but power does go through here for the service outlet 24/7. The 8A fuse blew. When I replaced it...

    Troubleshooting dead dmd

Brock came over tonight and installed his replacement dmd board which got it back up and running. Not sure what happened to the old one, he thought it looked a little fried. Guess it was an accidental short but I still don't know why it happened. Oh well, was fun to play some TOM again...

Man dies in street showdown with police

"Maybe" the situation could have gone different, but at the end of the day the guy was waving a knife around and not responding to instructions from the police to drop it. It wasn't like he had a bag of skittles in his hand.

Is there a Wizard of Oz table somewhere in the GTA

yes it was a prototype. news to me that it is no longer there. There are a couple now in collector's homes, but I don't know of any on location of the playdium one is gone. I'm sure it will return though.

Man dies in street showdown with police

I've talked to a cops specifically about shooting to disable, like in the movies. plain fact is guns are deadly weapons and they shoot to kill. if they hit an arm or leg, they missed their target.

Man dies in street showdown with police

Dunno, this is not normal, we don't have cowboy cops popping caps regularly, so that's why I am not quick to judge and will wait to hear what comes of the investigation.

All my pins under one roof - the TRUE holy grail!

LOVE the brick.... I'm doing the same. Flynn's Arcade had brick walls, so I'm doing it.

Man dies in street showdown with police

If guns are drawn, it is deadly force. Cops don't shoot warning shots or aim for arms or legs. They are trained though, so I'm sure this was by the book. Guy with knife (also deadly force) is threatening, doesn't leave them many options.

Pinballnews.com - New Pinball Documentary In Production

Basically, I think you could edit SWL and remove belly-guy, and pingeek, and leave everything else, and you'd have a decent doc. except for Steve Ritchie's little declaration at the end that pinball will be dead in 10 years, remove that too.

Star Trek is due around then, why not offer a credit against that machine if that is something the winner wanted?

Pinballnews.com - New Pinball Documentary In Production

Special When Lit was good, but there are too many crazies in there. It is not a doc I could show people to show them what I love about pinball without being embarrassed. Hopefully this will avoid those types.

60 Years of Gaming ~ Ontario Science Centre

was there again today. There is a BOP which is in much sadder shape than when I first saw it, the scoring displays are all 88888888888 now. Spy Hunter pin is gone, replaced by 2 EMs. The pins are at the main entrance to the exhibit so they probably get ridden hard all day long. They've never...

Oh, and I'm just going to throw out here (and maybe this is best in another thread)... I spend more on GAS going to topl, than the cost of actually playing pinball. I don't get the resistance to paying nominal fees.
