Yup, you need to power the driver board with the smaller connector. The big plug no longer needs to be used as you stated. Sorry I wasn't clear on that, just assumed people would leave it plugged in. I will clarify that in my instructions!
Thanks!
That will occasionally happen when I am assembling harnesses. The pin heats up and moves a bit inside the plastic. If I notice, I usually drop a bit of solder on the other side as a stopper. That being said, the pin in question is the 5v line. It is not used to power the display so it really...
Hi Jon,
Quite a few of these displays are now out in the wild and, besides yours, I've only had one other one that was problematic. I don't recall Jim telling me he had any issues with it but I could be mistaken as I've had a lot of conversations with many different people. If the display isn't...
Glad we got it working Matt! It was an older version of the pin2dmd displays, it just needed a bit of TLC. I'm surprised the previous owner just installed it and never got it running properly.
Thanks Jim! Glad that you are happy with it. I think Metallica looks pretty awesome. If anyone wants better video of it, I have installed one in the game I recently picked up. Just let me know.
Personally, the colour files for Metallica are probably the best ones out there for these displays.
GnR is pretty good as well but I don't have a video handy. I'll try to get one by the end of the week. I will shoot something using my vpin but you probably want to see it on a real game.
I have a credit with Mezel Mods for a playfield protector. Their listed price is $100 USD which is about $135 CDN. They are on sale from $140 USD.
You can check here for the games they are available for:

If you want it, I would make the necessary...
From what I've seen of it, it's very good and I'm not saying that to pump sales. I've been told by a few of the purchasers that they are very happy with it. It might even be one of the better ones out there but I'll let other's here comment.
What would be cool is if you colourized it yourself. If you buy a display, it comes activated but I could send you your key file if you like which then allows you to used the pin2dmd editor to do the colour. I have a Party Zone and the graphics are fairly simple. Just for fun, I might try doing...
The firmware and editor software is constantly evolving. The developers are always tweaking and adding more features to make it easier for people to do the colouring. It is very complicated and time consuming to do this work. I started goofing around with the editor and Judge Dredd. I spent many...
Awesome Perry! Glad you are happy with it. I believe there might be a couple of scenes that won't be full colour. Apparently the video mode has something like 56,000 combinations of scenes so the author decided at the moment that's not the best place to spend his next 10 years of colouring! :D...
As far as I remember it's all done. However because there was not enough free space in the binary to add all the colour changes, you have to make a choice between crosses or tombstones in Grave Marker multiball. I'm not even sure how many people are aware that there is a setting in the game that...
