Shoulda gone through Nitro. They absorb the tariff.
When I purchased the machine there was no tariff nonsense. Was going through nitro originally but it’s cheaper to go through spooky. Ive done this 2x with soooky and it’s cheaper. So was not interested in Nitro and I did not predict the tarrifs. Don’t think anyone did .

Hope for an end to the madness...

Federal trade court strikes down Trump’s reciprocal tariffs

  • A federal trade court struck down President Donald Trump’s worldwide reciprocal tariffs and ordered the administration to stop collecting them.
  • A three-judge panel on the Court of International Trade said Trump exceeded “any authority granted” by the International Emergency Economic Powers Act in imposing the import levies.
  • In halting tariffs Trump ordered on Canada, Mexico and China to combat drug trafficking, the judges said they “fail because they do not deal with the threats set forth in those orders.”

They'll appeal. Plus, he's ignored the courts before. I don't think it will make any difference unfortunately.

What ultimately matters to us as far as pinball is concerned is that Canada removes its counter tarrifs it has imposed on American goods. This is not likely to occur unfortunately until the USA removes the majority of their tarrifs but who knows, maybe Canada will surprise us in an act of good faith in the trade negotiations. Hoping the ruling in the USA does Accelerate the tariff removal.

Correct - pinball tariffs are all enacted from Ottawa and no where else.

I don't think their appeal will change anything, it's very clear the tariffs were always illegal. One of the judges was appointed by Trump. That said, nothing is predicable these days so we continue to wait. :(

The white house has alternate ways (that are in fact legal) of imposing same said tariffs. They just take longer to implement than the illegal "emergency powers act" that Capt Orange was using.

$200 Order from pinball resource came in with no 25% tax, just the 13%. This is just an FYI, can’t guarantee you’ll get same results

Sadly if it's stuff made Asia is should clear. Tariff should only apply to US made products like pinball machines or arcade cabinets.

Fair point, but I will say on the PBR invoice in big letters it says “ ALL PARTS Manufactured in the USA”. I grabbed spinners, caps, switches etc. but I guess these aren’t pinball machines and are just plastics and some metals

Not everything is tariffed so maybe that's it.

I was talking to a pinball buddy at Pinfest and he got lucky bringing a machine in last month from Buffalo. The border guard said he was supposed to charge 25% tariffs but let him off putting the game under another category for just HST.

I wouldn't risk it personally. Glad it worked out for him.

There is a loaded met prem in NJ. I'd almost think of drving to pick it up if it wasn't for the thought of 25% tariff.
It's too bad; there's much more selection of pins down there for sale at better prices. It's that 25% tariff that is ruining any deals.
