Hydro Approval

Just had a friend learn the hard way that every pin needs to be hydro approved for use in Canada. Apparently, some distros aren't doing it. Spoke with my repair guy and he said Stern and JJP are good from the factory but not CGC, Spooky and Pinball Bros for sure. Checked my Medieval Madness and thankfully it's good to go!

Short and a small fire. Pin basically destroyed and not covered by insurance.

Everything electrical needs to be CSA approved to be sold here.
The only way I could see this happening is tampering with the game....ie, electric mods split into the wiring, etc

Unfortunately not true. Games from some manufacturers come without being approved. Unless the distro does it themselves they get shipped without being inspected.

Several products that arrive in Ontario should not be sold to the public unless they are cUL, ULC or CSA approved. In many cases the importer ignores this or is unaware and leaves it to the end-user to figure it out. For Ontario, to comply to electrical code, if isn't cUL, ULC or CSA, it requires Ontario Hydro special inspection before the equipment can be used.

Not only Ontario, Canada. Ontario is the most strict
