And the way the current tradewar with China is going, hope JJP has a lot of parts in stock for their machines or they're going to be raising prices again.
That said, even without the tariffs, a $15k USD machine is still very pricey.
Agree but it's also relative. Those that buy CEs for profit flipping will likely lose. However if is a dream theme and you intend to basically keep it then it's not as bad... I guess.. Labyrinth was a dream theme for my wife and I long before anyone decided to make one. I got the first one BoF sold. We just had to have it and it's for keeps. It cost about 12kUSD with the extra accessories. There was EXPENSIVE shipping on top as I went direct with BoF. Looking back on my decision at the time I regret nothing.
HP is a super mega awesome theme for us as well but I was fine on not buying into it as a 25% tariff was definitely a no-go for us. Then last night I find out that Nitro is absorbing the tariff. Told my wife just for shits and giggles - honestly not expecting any discussion. We are getting HP now. 2 games will leave (SW & LTCE). Not sure which trim level it'll really depend on what the value is but there's a chance it'll be the CE - I think LE is more likely though. Anyway if it's the CE then it's the CE. It's another game where the theme just speaks to us and would not be considered for selling/trading later on. I'm lucky enough to have a wife who enjoys the hobby with me. I have no problem getting games that just fit with our likes/personalities.
So much for 2025 being the year we buy nothing. Uggggh. Portal extended is also on order of course.

Just the anouncement was sooooo lack lustre. This might have been the pin 10yrs ago I think for a lot of people and people with younger kids. But I'm not sure anymore. Unless its just that amazing!
I always find it funny when folks refer to HP as a kids theme. Sure the first half of the series is kid stuff, but then the last half is dark and is about adults torturing and murdering others including children. Not much of a kid theme at all lol. It's also about people in positions of power trying to control the narrative and denying reality ("fake news") and being above the law, which has soooo many parallels with where we are in 2025 it's eerie.

I don't know how Nitro is absorbing the duty but if so - I may buy a King Kong from Tommy.
I have heard the Arcade edition and LE are the same game so could be some good savings there. Probably just minus the topper, blades etc.

Not rushed at all. The release was announced for that day weeks ago. BoF is also releasing their next game next week, prior to Stern.

When I say kids I don't mean 10yr olds. I'm thinking teens or older. My kid is 30 so its been a while since we watched HP. But still go to universal studios and the HP area is incredible. So I'm guessing if some of those people had money HP pin will be a big seller still.

Rushed probably a poor choice of words. I definitely didn't mean the production values on the trailer were rushed - it an excellent 20 second trailer and as slick as any from Stern.
I meant that whenever I heard anyone mention Kong it was still "Stern's next release is rumoured to be King Kong by Keith Elwin", it didn't seem to be confirmed for sure, and then they drop this trailer a couple of days after orders start to get taken for HP.
It felt like they may have brought forward the release of the teaser trailer, but I wasn't aware there was a release date previously announced, so I stand corrected.

It's not possible unless you want to lose money, the margins from the manufacturers are less than the 25% Canadian counter tariffs.
However the government does exceptions now and they put in place a tariffs remission program for good that are unavailable in Canada or Non-US locations. Took a few weeks to get my company sorted out but I would imagine most Canadian distributors will have similar exemption. Tariffs on pinballs are a thing of the past, at least for now.

So it's tax payers that are on the hook for anything purchased with a tariff? That's not a solution that's just a tax divided amongst the masses. Like a subsidized tesla. Not a fan of more and more national debt. I'll go without for a while.

Not quite sure I follow you, the company/distributor needs to apply to the federal government for an exemption (tariffs remission). Then no tariffs are applied on those imports. No one is paying those tariffs... *The only tariffs that were applicable were the "counter tariffs" made up by the Canadian Government, they get exempted entirely when filing for the remission.
Tax payers have nothing to do with any of it... its business as usual... (except for the paperwork required and case by case approval)

Had this hanging in my gameroom for years. Read the books with my kids when they were very young. They are now 13 and 15. Watched the movies with them over and over again. Had HP themed birthday parties, visited Universal and had a fantastic time in HP land. The HP hype in our house has died in the recent years, even with the recent anniversary of the series. I'll still look at the game, but I'm priced out. It would have to be incredibly special for me to sell a game and replace it with JJP HP, especially in these tariff filled times.
