Looking for tips on adjusting an AX relay on a Gottlieb Royal Flush. I'm new to repairing EM's but really enjoying the process.

With the game off - I believe when I manually release the lower latch, the plastic switch actuator should to return to position. Having trouble getting it to spring back. I don't to adjust the springs. I think I'm suppose to adjust the switch arms that go through the plastic slotted plate to get this action right. Looking for thoughts, tips and advice from those who may have done this before. Is there a good you tube video out there? There must be a bit of a process or procedure to follow to simply this, as there are a lot of variables to adjust. Thanks in advance.

Doesn't the AX relay have a lock on it when it's engaged?
Unengage it and the relay should spring back...

Below is a picture. My understanding is the latch mechanism releases when the lower electromagnet is energized. When that latch releases, the return spring (in picture) should pull the plastic plate into the lock position (I think). It does not do that freely now. Should the upper electromagnet help to pull it back up? I think I have the spacing on the contacts adjusted correctly, but I am having trouble getting it to spring back up on its own. The piece I don't fully understand is the upper electromagnet.

Getting close on this machine and I think this might be the last piece of the puzzle. Let me know your thoughts.

It might be the angle of the pic but the bracket that comes back up doesn't look aligned at the top(by the A) That is easy to move off its access....
