* Tentatively sold * - EBD for sale shortly though...

Selling my Black Rose. This is a players condition game and is being sold as-is. It is perfect for someone who wants a working game now but can spend a bit of time over the winter making it better.

$1800 but may entertain trades. The only games that I am actively looking for are Scared Stiff, Gilligans Island, Centaur and Godzilla (but try me if you have something else).

The Good:
Fully working
Strong DMD

The Bad:
Some playfield/insert wear
Needs foam backing on the targets
Fade on one side of cabinet
Crude touchup on the cannon plastic (but these are available online if you wanted a better replacement).

Other:
Cliffy protectors available to cover up wear: http://www.passionforpinball.com/BlackRose.htm
Lots of parts readily available from the usual spots (Marco, BAA/PP)

Re: (Tentatively sold) Black Rose - Bally 1992

For future Black Rose owners, I have installed the Cliffy protector, and in my case it made levelling the cannon nearly impossible from then on (as hard as it is to level in the first place) - my Cliffy is coming out when I get time in the future (if anyone wants one cheap). That extra little lip at the front from the thickness of the protector makes you lower the back too much (and then the ball tends to get caught up there). It's either that or your whacking the ball on the protector. This makes sense when you think about the ball wear pattern. When it works well in the back, it tends to be a little too low in the front, hence the ball wear.

But I have seen that the cannon assembly warps. I have a new one - the ones that were left when I bought mine were not "perfect" - but flatter than the one I have in there now. I will eventually switch mine out too.

Black Rose is a great game once you get a handle on the cannon levelling. It's just too bad they had to use a three-legged level instead of a four-legged one, makes it horribly difficult. I've had my Black Rose at least 5 years I think, and apart from the mannish Kate Jackson in the backless, it appears to be a keeper for me.
