Dr@No's fun filled (and often long-winded) restorations

Seriously guys what I'm doing here couldn't be easier and anyone should be willing to try this stuff. Yeah, I can go all nuts and do an almost HEP quality restore but I reserve that for grail type games that I know I'm going to keep for years. SS is just something I want to try out for a while...

Dr@No's fun filled (and often long-winded) restorations

HIGH SPEED STIFF Part 2 These two projects have been moving along at anything but high speed. HS cab is done and has been sitting in my garage for weeks now awaiting me gettng off my butt to start the CPR playfield swap. Scared Stiff, on the other hand, got a little love over the last few days...

SOLD Ottawa - 1990 Bally Dr. Dude and His Excellent Ray - $1650

I've seen a few US buyers make the trek up here over the last few weeks.... and most of them seem to hate to cross the border or even have a passport. That strong greenback is making these Canadian listings super tempting. Congrats on a quick sale!

    Tim's SKYLAB thread

Those features are obviously controlled via the 6 bank of relays called out with each letter. I'm assuming there's some sort of roller that closes over each one in sequence? At least that's how Gottlieb's work. Something is likely preventing them from re-setting. Anyway, without seeing the...

    E.T. Custom Pinball Machine

Sounds like fun! I'm in the middle of something similar. Starting to wish I'd picked a more reliable machine to start with though :( Looking forward to seeing more.

    Tim's SKYLAB thread

Tim, It's very easy to assume that you're in the right place on these machines and be very wrong ;) The scoring relays are certainly in the head and seems like they're scoring fine when pressed manually. The next question is, what sends the signal to the 1000's unit in the first place and why...

    February 9, 2015 - The Big Lebowski™ Pinball Update

Same here. I haven't played it but I have it on good authority that the game plays great too. I wuld have thought it was very stop&go based on all the stuff on the playfield. I almost wish there was some negative feedback so I wouldn't want it so bad :( I guess my only beef is that they did a...

    Tim's SKYLAB thread

I'm battling my own Williams EM demons lately too Tim. Seems like the contacts and relays just were not up to the same standard as Gottlieb for this era. Your relay may certainly be firing but the contacts are likely not making. A neat little trick someone showed me is simply to short each set...

Dr@No's fun filled (and often long-winded) restorations

Funny enough, it feels way better now. It used to have a massive opening and produced sloppy shots, now it really motors through the orbit and feels super smooth. So nice in fact, that we're planning to add a spinner there. There was a ton of space to add the vari-target and it has provided...

The metamorphosis concept is definitely cool and it's done very well for that era of game. As a way to start a multi ball it's pretty compelling. Of course Adam is right and the game relies too much on that ramp... but I'd still throw it in the garage for a few months.

Dr@No's fun filled (and often long-winded) restorations

Time to catch up; it's been a couple of weeks. Like a backed up toilet, the shop has started to overflow again :( My recent Woodrail kick has forced 3 more games into the tight space. I'm collecting some necessary parts for each project and will most likley be bringing them all into my shop at...

Funny. I don't really understand why people only play pinball for score alone and ignore the fact that designer's intended it to be a "game" to be "played", and winning doesn't always have to come back to points... but here we all are. :picard:

Marco Spec + Shipping = WTF

Even ordering from Marcos (from Canada) and shipping to a US location can be tricky. You'll have to use a credit card and for yor address use the Armed Forces Base option. They do NOT make it easy. That being said, Playdium/Starburst has an excellent stock of parts and, as has been pointed...

I don't know if I'd spend the money on the 2.0 kit to be honest. Don't really care about having a DMD and i kinda like the rules as they are. It's simple but fun. I guess I'd have to play one to see if there is the upgrade is worth doubling the cost of the pin.
