Mine was originally missing 3 of the 4 fins on the cup. It's been replaced, but I still have variance in how it fires. Having 3 fins missing probably caused the plunger to wear unevenly hence the odd eject every once and a while.

Mine will fire out and hit the right flipper and then bounce over to the left 90% of the time. That last 10% of the time it'll fire out faster, hit the right flipper and bounce over to the left sling. That 10% is tough to recover from, but I like the randomness of it.

I agree with Drano. My coil doesn't fire in the exact same manner every time, but it's at least pretty consistent. Have you replaced the coil sleeve? Check the ball popper cup too. Mine was missing a couple of the shark fins which causes the ball to go wild every so often when it shot onto...
