cant help yet. printing on acrylic is expensive. working on sublimation and waterslide, but havent gotten going on that project. $400 cad for a laser cut and printed topper is not as crazy as it seems

I've been happy with the mod, it definitely allows you to control the ball. I understand both arguments, but I prefer it with the mod.

You can get 12v switched with the machine off CN6 on the power distribution board beside the power supply. If you already have a mod plugged in there, you'll need a splitter. From there, any 12v LED strip with controller will work from amazon.
