You could always try replacing the sound ROMs. If all other sounds work ok then this could just be some file corruption on the EPROM.

The “OH YEAH!” got on my nerves so I made custom sound ROMS at the time. This is years before Pinsound was invented lol. A lot of trial and error with an EPROM programmer and audio editing software.
