Had a pack of venturer scouts over yesterday to play. Those are the oldest teenager scouts. My wife is a scout leader and was showing pics of the arcade and they wanted to come check it out. So it was cool to have a bunch of teenagers spend a couple of hours playing pinball without their parents...
Since my room is so dark, I wanted to minimize the blacklight effect to just the carpet and not light up everyone's teeth. I had not even thought about possible cabinet damage, so the lights pointed away from it is a bonus.
The lights are run through the speaker hole and to the service outlet...
The blacklight carpet runner has arrived. 18" blacklights are mounted under each cabinet to light the carpet. It is hard to photograph how amazing the effect is, but as the saying goes, it really ties the room together :).
I'm having trouble uploading photos, so you can see the pictures here...
Really amazing the time and care Stern is putting into this. We're talking years and years. I hope it's a game changer. And not because everyone thinks it means LCD.
That'll be funny if they go that way because then it pretty much is gambling with cash value prizes. I mean, all redemption is, you take away the tickets and the games aren't fun any more, but if they do away with the cheap chinese plastic and let people redeem for movie passes and stuff, they...
Pinball is big business. 1000 MMR LEs is $8,000,000 revenue. Obviously Stern is able to get what they want out of the deal, and deservedly so since that well tuned factory line is no joke.
I think some of the other boutique games, like Predator, have priced their games with no meat left on the...
Great news. Everyone will get their games at comparable speed to a Stern release. No waiting a year like WOZ's (and I expect Predators for people on the end of the run).
I actually wondered why more of the smaller companies are making these types of deals.
That's a reasonable solution. I wonder if they'd ever do that, or if it would hurt sales too much. But it could also improve sales by boosting buyer confidence.
At the end of the day you are talking about an event that sells out in an hour, so they have a lot of potential. You could raise fees to cover the logistics of renting a convention space and pay for the moving of all the games. If there are pin expos that happen throughout the US that can move...
It's interesting to see the new projects, and how many of them can get a lot right, but none of them (so far) can get it all right. Shows how complicated it is to create a real pinball. All those engineers employed at Stern actually do something :).
Luch, just because this worked out well, it's probably a bad idea to drive around asking people if they'd like to get in your car and "play pinball".
Before the prequels had come out, it was declared the only canon they were sticking with was the original series. So, not surprised by this news, nor does it upset me. I just hope the new movies are half decent. The prequels are unwatchable now.
