Just an FYI, but I needed some parts today and when I went to checkout on Pinball medics there's now a 25% tariff surcharge across the entire order. Hopefully we get through this sooner than later

Canadian retaliatory tariffs of 25% on the first 30 billion of US goods are still on. I believe that these include pinball machines.

Of course unless you had to order these parts in, than that dealer was just padding his pockets with an extra 25% profit on their instock parts at your expense. Hopefully they took you out for dinner before screwing you!

Canadian tariffs don’t start until 21 days from March 4 as per our laws for instating the tariffs Btw.

They aren't screwing anyone, when they fill that replacement order it'll cost them 25% more to get it in. Then some people will bitch if the tariffs leave but they don't drop their prices 25% right away.

Tarrifs don’t exist at this point, he got taken. On top of which you know they won’t restock they will just place orders as needed charging that customer the tarrifs per order if it ever comes to be.

I can understand paying the 25% on products they had to pay the 25% tariffs on. If they haven’t paid 25% tariffs yet, then it shouldn’t be charged. So really people are getting screwed.

As per this article, 25% were put in place on March 4th 2025 on 30 billion of goods from the USA.

With the list of affected products here

Included in the list

The process was started on March 4, still provides 21 days before the tarrifs are charged It kinda a weird law that they enact the tarrifs but give the 21 days before grace period. I am guessing that is to allow for intransit materials to arrive tarrif free.

Nope. It was in affect as of Mar 4. They almost got me with some pinball machines, thankfully it was in transit before that otherwise I'd have been screwed. So anything shipped on Mar 4+ will be affected.

I wish they weren't in yet but sadly they are.

The first phase of Canada's response includes tariffs on $30 billion in goods imported from the U.S., effective as of 12:01 a.m., March 4, 2025. The list includes products such as orange juice, peanut butter, wine, spirits, beer, coffee, appliances, apparel, footwear, motorcycles, cosmetics, and certain pulp and paper products.

It also includes pins.

But wait, isn't there a couple folks who want to admit they were wrong and just flew off the handle incorrectly???

No... one set of tariffs came in effect immediately on March 4. 21 days later a bigger set was set to come into place. Those have been postponed until April 2nd to see what political theatre happens in the US.

Pretty sure this is an incorrect application of a tariff surcharge though. The vast majority of pinball parts are not made in the US, so even though they're being shipped from the US they wouldn't have the 25% tariff applied. The origin of the parts for LED's, coils, etc is most certainly somewhere like China. They should be labelled as such, and they'd have the same charges they've always had. If the parts suppliers aren't willing to label the shipments properly, that's certainly a problem all in itself.

Does the $800 exemption still apply if you are bring in parts, etc. from the US and are visiting for over 48 hours? Assuming the parts are made in the US. Thanks.

So does this mean pinball machines are now 25% more expensive if purchased from the USA effective March 4th?

I asked this question last night as I have things to buy at Allentown and A Stebel did some studying, no tariff on the exempted amount but on anything value over.
