Pin2000 CPU's....

I had a CPU problem a month ago with my computer (the screen would freeze while playing and not boot afterwards) so I found and bought a lot of 6 of the GXM-233GP 2.9V CPU's, they arrived today, I tested them and 5 of them work great, one of the CPU's was described as "missing a pin", I'm sure it will work well if I can fix that, can anyone here guide me into fixing/replacing the pin in any way?
These CPU's are getting so rare that I really want to do everything I can to save one from the trash, plus, I'll have 5 back ups instead of 4....

Wasn't the Nucore project supposed to be a generic PC replacement for the pin2000 games? Or are you just trying to keep the system all original? Not sure if you can replace a pin on a CPU like that-I've never tried.

I'm trying to keep everything original,.....and simple, I don't know much about Nucore other than what you said and that a Nucore computer is impossible to find these days.
I was told from the seller that the missing pin COULD not be assigned to anything, but I'm scared I might fry my motherboard if I try it....
Is there a way to check if the missing pin is assigned to anything on the mediaGXM ?

I would not install a CPU with a missing PIN. Nor would I trust one that had a pin "replaced". I understand the rarity of the item but risk is not work the reward. Plus, CPUS rarely fail from my experience. It is typically something else (fans, caps, mobo).

I don't know much about Nucore other than what you said and that a Nucore computer is impossible to find these days.

NUcore is linux based and works on any computer. It’s not an actual computer but more an OS and software. It’s free. Works better than the original hardware as it auto-senses which PF is connected, including Wizard blocks (game #3 prototype).

However, it is difficult to obtain and even more difficult to configure. Not for the faint of heart but definitely a solution that works to keep P2k games going.

Thanks for the input, confirms that I should NOT try to install the missing pin CPU on my Motherboard, and also confirms that Nucore is not for me, I'm not "faint of Heart" on many things in pinball but computers are NOT my thing at all, so I'll stick with original, plus, I've recapped all of my 3 Pin2000 computers, I'm replacing the fans now a days, I've changed the batteries on Prism and motherboard, and this weekend I'm recapping the power supplies and sound boards, so I think I'm good for quite a while considering I play about 30 minutes a day max.

Here's what an experienced technician answered me, quote:

"I believe the missing pin is "A23" which is one of several that are used as I/O power pins "VCC3". So, you should be fine with one missing. At least I don't think there's any possibility of damaging the mother board, when trying it.

However... The Cyrix manual identifies A23 as "AD8", so the motherboard would not boot, but I doubt it would be damaged."

Totally my fault if the CPU failed, I removed the factory original thermal tape 3 years ago and replaced with thermal paste, normally that should be good, but I did'nt apply the thermal paste the right way and there were air bubble, I'm pretty sure that's what caused the CPU to fail.
