I'm guessing a couple of people are butting heads. He told me to bring help and cash only. I agreed and he went MIA shortly after. Not going to lose sleep over it

It wasn't a typo, although that was the first thing I asked. I asked if they missed a digit in the price and she said no, they just wanted it gone. I said, ok, if that's what you want for it, I'll take it.

This was 8 minutes after she posted the ad. Pure fluke on seeing it that quick and responding right away. She said they got the game 20 years ago and about ten years ago something broke. A friend that fixes games said he would fix it, but never did. So it just sat there. She said they likely only paid about $500 for it 20 years ago so was ok with the price she picked. They just wanted it gone. She said I was the first to respond and honored that. That was all that mattered. She said her phone was blowing up, so you better come tonight if you want it. So I did.

When I got there, and yes, it was on a rural farm property, I opened the game up. She said they had not known how to do that. Didn't know how to remove the glass or raise the playfield. I showed her various things inside the cabinet. The left flipper link was snapped, so that was the part that needed fixing. But when you are trying to go in through the coin door to do work, you undoubtedly are going to eventually give up and walk away.

Not knowing how to open the game up also meant no knowledge of there being batteries. Uh oh, here we go. Thankfully, the batteries had not leaked and dripped on the boards.

The game is dirty and needs a shop job, cleaning, new rubbers, flipper rebuild and whatnot. Giddyup. I love that stuff as I know many of you do too. LEDs, new backglass plastic trim, leg bolts, levellers, star posts, lane guides, the usual stuff. I'll post some progress photos once I get going, but overall it looks very clean (for a dirty game). You know what I mean, it's dirty but not worn. I consider myself very fortunate to have stumbled on the ad when I did for a game I've wanted for a while. 2025 has been a really crummy year for me, so this helps make me think 2026 will be better.

Thanks for the kind words. Early Christmas gift is right! :)

I got digging into it last night. Just using parts and things I already had on hand. Got some of the bulbs changed out, legs, leg bolts and levellers replaced. The battery holder needs attention as when I removed the old batteries, a small bit of the conductive end of the holder went with them. Same thing happened on my Cyclone when I had it. So it won't remember the settings after turning it off and then on again for now, which isn't the end of the world except the programming buttons are sticking, so kinda hard to use those for the time being, lol.

Strangest thing so far was thinking the ramp shots felt just a little too easy to hit. Wasn't complaining, but then after removing the balls and putting them back in a couple times, I realized they felt small. Yep, turns out the three balls in it were those slightly smaller ones used in Truck Stop. Didn't see that one coming and not sure how I noticed it. Fun fun. Here's a couple pics.

Sounds like the GnR I picked up in Niagara a few years back. Just got lucky on coming across the ad on Kijiji and having a nice seller that kept to the original price.

Getting a good deal is always great!
But I dont feel comfortable with this..

Funny how community standards show up to cap upside, dont you dare going $500 over pinside market!!! But never to prevent someone from getting fleeced.

Free market apparently has rules, just not when it costs buyers money.

Looking forward to buying this one for $400 lol hey its a win for all! I promise to relist for $500.

All that aside, pinball rev has been a little bit less noisy with the price police! Need to recruit new members. Police numbers are low nation wide! Lol

He told her it was worth more.....ive gotten great deals because I was honest and told them the truth. My HUO WPT was listed for $2000, I called and the first thing I said was "Ma'am, it's worth way more then that". All she said was "Well it's yours for that". She was just happy someone honest got it and I was just happy to give myself that as a birthday present. (it actually was)

People speak up to prevent potential unaware new buyers from getting fleeced. How about 5000 over Pinside market? Should we speak up to prevent a newb from being swindled or just sit back and laugh?

Fellas, respectfully, you missed the point, but you proved it.

Whether the buyer told the seller it was worth more or received a blessing is irrelevant. The outcome was determined by speed, not ethics. It was a race to be first.

That speed was not used to warn the seller. It was used to secure the deal before someone else did.

That is the point.

If there truly were a community driven price police, this thread would be about protecting an uninformed seller, not celebrating who managed to grab the item first.

Calling it free market after the fact does not change what actually happened.
