I thought about it for a second then thought about the quality. and reliability. And it would take up a spot for a real game.
I did play it, and its fun, no doubt about that.

It is a real game, standard Stern parts and playfield. If it's still there on the weekend I might come get it.

Not quite. Cab is particle board. In fact all cabinet hardware is unique and not standard at all. You can't even lift the playfield without hauling out the tools. Audio is 1 tiny speaker in backbox. Don't get confused with the speaker holes in the cabinet and backbox. Only 1 is filled (backbox). Screen is small and not great. I agree that the top of the playfield parts are standard (flippers/mechs).

Here's a good overview of "under the hood" including the weird cab design and hardware:

Yes, cabinet/screen is a a bit smaller and 1 speaker but the actual game is a standard playfield parts and IC.

For $3200 that's all more than fine!

The one in the Blair Rd Costco in Ottawa was still at the normal price last night. I've had a quick game on two visits now and been surprised at how well it plays for being a floor model at Costco (and it's been moved since my last visit) and how many decent shots are in it. I'd be very tempted if it dropped to $3200.

If you have room, and $3200 is a good price point for you, what else could you get for that? A run of the mill sold state maybe? I'd assume that you would get more play out of this and it would have less reliability issues than a 40 year old machine.

I was wondering if it would make sense for Strern to remaster/recode one of their older games like they did with Seawitch/The Beatles to save on design costs. Theme it as The Avengers or Pokemon or whatever and put them out as home editions or lower cost pros.

Kingston isn't a far drive.
I thought about asking the manager that id take it at $2k.

I guess we just missed each other...I played a game and for $3200, I would definitely think about it.

It's not deep...but compared to other machines at the 'new demo price", it's not too bad. Many might complain about the particle board cabinet, but then again, Gottlieb/Premier were the masters of it LOL!

While I was playing, almost everyone that walked by "complained" on the $6999.99 sticker price LOL...

...and no, IC wasn't enabled ( i tried LOL).

Honestly $3200 is a steal IMO. I would have bought it on the spot.

I have seen these sell for $5000+ used.

So did I! :p The two home editions and Bond 60th are the only IC-enabled games that I haven't managed to play on location somewhere. I was hoping it was enabled to "tick it off".

As I said, I was genuinely surprised that it seemed to have been set-up well enough to play a decent game on it. Seemed level and nothing was broken, sticking or noticeably out of place.

I was in Costco kingston yesterday and today couldn't find the demo one. So somebody got it unless its hiding in the very back. Not sure i would have grabbed it at that price either. The spot behind the drop targets on the playfield was very chipped up last time I played it and just the amount of plays it had on it in total from being at Costco. There are 3 new ones still at the store up on the racks. I asked about buying one figuring they might be discounted but was told there the regular price 6999.99 and won't get discounted because they can send them back the manufacturer. Its fun but definitely not $6999.99 fun.
