Chris just finished a really nice restoration on a very rare Data East King Kong which there were only 9 units confirmed to ever be made. Looks like 2 of which have been or will be restored by him as there is another one wrapped up waiting to be done next which has some weird inserts on the coin door side of the cab.

Anyways here is a video he made a couple of days ago giving you an overview as well as game play.

Chris just setup the other King Kong side by side with the freshly restored one he just finished. He also made a video pointing out the differences too.

Interesting to see two of only nine games in the same place, side by each. The unrestored one looks a lot more DIY/prototype-ish than the restored one. Some tough choices will have to be made...between keeping it in its "original" rough-around-the-edges state versus making the machine play like the more engineered restored one...the video states that playability will win in almost all cases.

Wonder how those main king-size flippers feel...if lightning flipper make a game more snappy, would these longer flippers make a modern game more clunky? They obviously didn't fare too well, as the restored version in the video, probably a model built AFTER the unrestored one, has abandoned them for the lower flippers.
