I'm really confused again.

MR2 or MR-2 may refer to:
MegaRace 2, a 1996 video game
Mercury-Redstone 2, an American space mission
Monster Rancher 2, a 1999 video game
Nimrod MR2, a military aircraft
Toyota MR2, a sports car

Ya. It would sound great. For a while. You've bridged your subwoofer before the amp. It would cause premature wear in your new sub.

This might clear clear thing up. Or make it worse.

I wonder if these subs have safeguards to protect us idiots from ourselves?
Volume was always kept at less than 50% and it still sounds the same.
Time will tell!

I have another arriving tomorrow, I'll try to set it up proper :D

You should be fine. we used to run a dozen speakers and that was at ridicules volumes for competition. I doubt you caused any real harm.

Its likely fine as you never cranked it. Also i cant really see a home theater speaker being dual voice coil as most home audio runs at 8ohm. So would it not have to be a 16ohm sub in order to run 8ohm bridged stable?

I mostly deal with car audio but thats just my understanding
Someone please correct me if im wrong

I would say this sub is 99.9% not a dual voice coil setup, and none of the wiring issues listed in this thread pertain to bridging an amp. (I'm not sure how that even came up to be honest) Some users were using the low level inputs on their subs with hi-power input (amplified) sources. Then the other issue was a user was using the negative input on the right channel input and the positive input on the left channel input to drive the sub. This isn't really an issue, as the negative inputs for both channels are clearly tied together internally, which is why it was working.

Just thought I'd chime in to try and keep the thread from getting too confusing.

Ok I'm ready to snapshow here...

I picked up this Polk sub on sale and ran home to toss it onto my Metallica Prem. Sub is plugged in, threw some alligator clips on 16ga speaker wire, clipped them onto the cab speaker, and ran the line out the cab to the high level inputs on the sub.

I get practically nothing.

I have to crank the sub full blast and up the x-over all the way to get anything, and at best it's some low notes you can barely hear unless your head is under the cab. I've tried reversing the leads, thinking I messed up my + and - but swapping them made it worse - low rumble that now doesn't match the music. I've tried left and right, I even tried bridging like movingpictures did - nada.

Wtf am I doing wrong? I feel like everything is hooked up perfectly but I just can't get anything going here. Either this sub is borked, or I'm an idiot and have unknowingly hooked something up wrong. Any advice which it is? haha I don't have any home stereo crap to test this thing out on so I'm at a loss as to what to try next...

I'd say it sounds like you've got a bad sub, as your install sounds correct.

Wait. It might be the alligator clips.
On my MET the clips caused weird interference.
I stripped the speaker wire and wrapped it around the two lugs on the existing undercab speaker.
Voila.

Maybe it will work for you?

Re: Did you say BASSjQuery1820639469246272552_1373957387648?

Cut the alligators off, wrapped the wire on, no change. Tried swapping over to the Firepower next to it, still piss poor bass.

Like, there is bass present, but everything is cranked on the sub and it just barely fills in the low end. No way could I wake up anyone in my own home with the sub.

I think I'll make a trip back to FS tomorrow and exchange for another unit. Seems hard to believe its the sub though. Just running out of things to try...

It's a fairly easy hook up, maybe swap out the wires you used just for good measure, but sounds like the sub is pooched

On my tron I have gator clips onto my sub and they go into the + RIGHT - side of the speaker level input and it pounds. I would go exchange for another one at the store and maybe yours was DOA.

I did a quick test of my subwoofer by plugging in my ipod into the line inputs in the back. You can try it if you have a minijack/rca cable for the ipod.

I know the Polk PSW10 is on sale right now for $99.99 but if you want to get the Polk PSW108 for even cheaper you can try to have BestBuy do a price match and get it for roughly $74+taxes.

psw108_l_1.jpg

Best Buy $329.99
http://www.bestbuy.ca/en-CA/product/pol ... 602129en02

Visions $98.00 on sale till July 17
http://www.visions.ca/catalogue/categor ... sku=PSW108

If Best Buy tries to deny your price match and they say Visions is not an authorized Polk reseller pull up this page and put in this postal code R3C 3B4 with 50km distance

http://www.polkaudio.com/where-to-buy/canada

I know someone successfully got it price matched at the Oakville store so good luck!
