I was thinking about changing my prism card battery for a while now but I did'nt want to have to update afterwards.
So I came up with an idea, I tried it out today and works great.
I started by finding the 2 places where the battery is connected to the board, pictures show the negative and postive points on the prism card, I connected alligator clips to those points and connected them to a 3V battery I had (see pictures) , once everything connected I carefully removed the old battery, and replaced with a new battery.
I connected the computer and everything works as if the battery was never removed.
Simple, no update afterwards......that's the way I like it.

I just did exactly the same with the motherboard, bios stayed exactly the same.

On another note, I have 2 complete computers, one for RFM and one for SWEP1, I changed batteries on both motherboards and both prim cards, I checked the batteries real closely and I'm just about certain that they are factory original batteries, they are yellowed just like the metal boxes were before I cleaned them about a month ago, they all have marks of the holder on the boards, the 2 prism card batteries are exactly the same and are written "made in the USA" , both motherboard batteries are the indentical as well.
Someone on Pinside told me that the batteries last 5 to 7 years, but I'm pretty sure they are 20+ years old, so I'm confident that I'll have no problems for the next 20 years or so.
All old batteries tested 2.8 volts to 2.9 volts.
Good information to know for someone who is doing this job, that's why I'm sharing.
