Yes I resoldered although gravity doesn't help when you have the playfield vertical.
My skillshot works, I have never had a close look.
I do have a D&D as well and found a few of the under playfield sockets had their solder joint to the common wire broken when the previous owner...

I would be wary of the "Metal Rescue" from Canadian Tire. It may leave a black residue that is hard to get off.

I have one with the stair climber feature like the first ones shown. Then you can smoothly lower it down stairs with no jolts.
