I went to see the Galaxy today and although the seller seems like a nice guy, he had no clue about pinball. His pin was totally not as advertised. The playfield has multiple wear spots down to wood throughout. The displays are wonky and work "when the machine gets warmed up". Several lamps were out. The sound doesn't seem right with periods of low and high volumes, most likely all the caps need replacing. There is no backbox key so I was unable to inspect the boards but the guy says he hasn't opened it up for 15 years. Poss battery damage. Informed him that a decent players should be around 1200 but this one is in project territory. Definitely not the "100% working OK" with "good playfield artwork" as stated.

This is something I'm worried about as someone new to the hobby and looking for a first pin. Other than hoping to find one on this board from a member, kijiji is worrisome because I don't know how to look for this stuff in the right detail yet. I don't want to buy a pin that turns into a project... not for a first one anyway, I don't have the time!
