Think this was the theme all a long? Or did Paul Walker's death and the delay of F&F7 force Stern to find another theme to slap on top of what would have been a FF machine?

Would have been easy to do. Just change the art package to reflect Mustangs thru the ages rather than imports with large spoilers. Game design would largely remain the same.

Stern Pinball Announces Partnership with Ford Motor Company

World’s Leading Maker of Arcade-Quality Pinball Celebrates 50 Years of Ford Mustang with Newest Machine
MELROSE PARK, IL – December 5, 2013 –

Stern Pinball, Inc., the world’s leading maker of real pinball games, proudly announced today the merging of two American icons. Get ready to start your engines and celebrate 50 years of Mustang. The Mustang pinball machine, exclusive to Ford, drops players into the driver’s seat of one of the hottest cars on the street. Narrated by professional racing driver, Tanner Foust, this machine sets the tone for a fast paced, white-knuckle game. The game comes equipped with top-of-the-line features including artwork painted by famed Ford GT designer, Camilo Pardo, and the ultimate soundtrack from Sony Music featuring five decades of hits.

“The Mustang is one of the most iconic, American cars ever made,” said Gary Stern, Chairman and CEO of Stern Pinball, Inc. “What better way to celebrate 50 years of Mustang than with the launch of the Ford Mustang pinball game? Everyone at Stern is buzzing with excitement about this launch. From the artwork and game features to the stellar soundtrack, we have created a tribute that will make Mustang and pinball fans worldwide proud.”
Mark Bentley, Ford Global Brand Licensing says, “Ford Motor Company is extremely excited to partner with Stern Pinball on this state-of-the-art Mustang pinball machine. Both Stern and Ford are proud American companies with industry leading, iconic brands. Pinball aficionados from around the globe will appreciate the unique blend of Mustang heritage and Stern craftsmanship in this fantastic machine.”

The Ford Mustang game continues the Stern Pinball tradition of producing quality pinball machines for young and old. The company traces its lineage to the 1930’s in Philadelphia when Sam Stern entered the business of operating pinball games. Sam subsequently became part owner and president of Williams Manufacturing, a pioneer in the pinball industry, and passed his lifelong enthusiasm for the game and the business of pinball to his son, Gary, who founded Stern Pinball. Today pinball remains one of the world’s favorite pastimes.

I think this could be a good game, but not a theme that will have me pre-booking.

I never thought I'd own an ac/dc, but it proved itself in time, so if I can have ac/dc in my house, I can end up with a car pin, but only if they get it right.

So ford just announced the 2015 mustang this week. But that car in the video isn't it. Weird. Thought it would be a good way to show off the new car.

It seems to quick to be a fast and furious re work. They would have been working with ford for more then a couple days on this....although anything is possible

There was a pinside thread about a mustang pin going back 8 months, so they've been working on it a long time.

The F&F rumours came out of the ether.

Hell may have frozen over. Depending on the how well it pays tribute to the classics I may be interested.

When was the last time anything changed in your lineup Glen?

Haven't been to your place in a while but I thought you were pretty much stagnant.

Interesting

I thought Stern was only investing in movie or super hero pins.
Also points at the idea of a potential F&F rebadge...

I hope some of it's based on this.

Ah when cars sound like cars and drove like tanks! (I learned to drive in a manual 76 or 77 Chevy Concours (4th gen Nova) which was the replacement my Dad bought for our '64 Chevy Nova - I had pleaded and BEGGED him to keep the '64 for me, but someone offered him too much cash for it). I remember thinking what a lame ass boat that Concours was, but I could still lay rubber... I digress.

Anyone smell a third edition remake of High Speed?

Those cars drove like tanks because most people didn't replace the worn out bushings, worn steering box, worn front end components, bad wheel bearings and spring saddles. By the time you got a hold of one back in the day a most of the components were toast. The cars are more nimble today but the old ones weren't so bad when they were new.

Sad...now if it was the General Lee I would pre-order and spend the next 6 months deciding whether to put it between Fish Tales and Big Buck Hunter, or bookend those with Nascar and the General Lee.

I was at SB today and asked if they had any updates. Nothing new but I'm now under the impression there is a single version being released.

FWIW Camilo Pardo was a Ford designer who amongst other things was responsible for the Thunderbird, Lincoln LS and Ford GT concept.

Example of his art.
